MetaconSystem

2000 marked the year primotec launched its MetaconSystem.
That year the dream of many a dental technician became reality:
to work with light-curing wax directly on the master model eliminating
the duplication procedure and refractory models.

However, the use of Metacon is by far not limited
to the production of partial frameworks but its application range
is universal, extending to all areas of dental technology.
Metacon is, for example, perfect for producing complicated,
implant-retained restorations. Metacon
is excellent for use with pressable ceramics and Cercon (Degudent).
Metacon is ideal for tertiary structures
over Galvano copings.
The main component in Metacon is wax – it can be
modeled like wax and behaves like wax. Due to its composition and
material properties, the Metacon wax can be used
in two ways. Either the so called “hot application” with electric
wax spatula, Bunsen burner and spatula as well as dipping, or the
“cold application” as Metacon at normal room temperature can be kneaded
similar to a modeling clay.
The system uses a special vacuum suction device that lets the user
achieve a precision fit with every Metacon casting.
After the wax-up procedure Metacon is polymerized
brilliantly in the specially developed Metalight QX1 light-curing
unit. By light curing the Metacon wax becomes acrylic.
Immediately following polymerization, Metacon can
be trimmed before investing, as this acrylic is easy to grind with
carbide burs.
Even though Metacon turns into an acrylic, it does
not loose the beneficial properties of a wax; it burns out cleanly
and completely, and does not expand in the ring during preheating.
The Metacon systems doesn't just offer modeling
wax, but also prefabricated patterns like retentions, bar profiles,
clasp profiles, smooth or stippled sheets and sprues.
